Scope of Work

Alex GC supplied the white uPVC windows for the renovation of a two-story brick house at 24 74th Street in Brooklyn. The house was being rebuilt inside and out, and the new windows went into the brick openings on both floors: three-part windows in the wide front openings, two-part windows on the side and at the corner, and narrower single windows along the side wall.

What the Photographs Show

The photographs were taken in October 2021 with the building work still under way. The windows are in their openings and still carry the factory protective film on the frames, which stays on until the masonry and interior work around them is finished. From inside, the rooms are at the insulation and drywall stage: spray foam in the walls, a waterproofing membrane around the window openings, and board going up.

Why uPVC

uPVC frames are made from multi-chamber vinyl profiles, usually with steel reinforcement inside. The chambers make the frame itself a good insulator, the white color runs through the material and does not need painting, and the windows cost less than aluminum of similar thermal performance. For a house renovation where the owner wants warm, quiet rooms and low upkeep, they are a practical choice. More on our uPVC windows page.

Supplying Windows to a Renovation

On a supply order we take the opening sizes, agree the configuration of each window with the owner or contractor, and deliver the windows made to those sizes for the builder's crew to install. The video on this page walks through the ground-floor rooms with the windows in place.

See material supply for how supply-only orders work.
