Roto Overview

Roto Frank is a German manufacturer of window and door hardware. They do not make windows — they make the mechanisms inside them, and their hardware is fitted by a large number of European window system manufacturers.

This matters more than it sounds. On a tilt-and-turn window, the hardware is the window: it carries the sash weight, it drives the locking points around the frame, and it decides whether the unit tilts, swings, or jams. Two windows with identical frames and glass can perform very differently depending on whose hardware is inside.

Roto hardware is specified where a window needs to do more than open. Multipoint locking, controlled tilt ventilation, restricted opening for child safety, and heavy sliding panels are all hardware problems rather than frame problems.
