Long Island work is three things for us. Custom houses in the Five Towns, on the South Shore and on the North Shore, where the openings are large, often arched or shaped, and the owner wants slim European aluminum, big sliding and folding doors, and glass railings on the terraces; the house on Amherst Drive in Woodmere is a complete Alex GC exterior. Oceanfront and bayfront buildings, where every unit is specified to the wind zone and the salt, and the whole building is replaced at once; Surfview Towers on the Long Beach boardwalk was every opening. And retail and commercial along the village main streets, Sunrise Highway and Jericho Turnpike, where a storefront or entrance is replaced around trading hours; the new storefront in Cedarhurst is that work.
All of it is a short run from our shop on Staten Island over the Verrazzano and the Belt, so a survey is a morning, the crew that measured is the crew that installs, and the windows and glass are delivered on our own trucks.

Houses and buildings on the water in Long Beach, Lido Beach, Atlantic Beach, Point Lookout and along the South Shore bays get laminated glass, stainless hardware and a marine-grade finish as standard in our quotes, because salt air and wind are harder on a window there than inland in Garden City or Plainview.
Coastal Long Island is high-wind and flood-zone territory. Openings below the design flood elevation follow the flood-zone rules, some zones carry wind-borne-debris requirements, and anything facing the ocean needs corrosion-rated hardware. We specify laminated or impact-rated glass where the zone requires it, stainless hardware, compression-sealed or lift-and-slide doors, and marine-grade coatings (AAMA 2604 or 2605) within a mile of salt water, because a standard powder coat on an oceanfront balcony door chalks in five years. Village building departments (Long Beach, Lawrence, Cedarhurst and the rest) issue their own permits; co-ops and condos on the beachfront follow alteration agreements as in the city. To start, send photographs of the openings with rough sizes, the address, and the name of the architect, board or manager if there is one; we reply with a range the same week and a survey date. Within a mile of salt water a standard powder coat chalks in a few years; oceanfront and bayfront openings also have to meet the wind zone and, below the design flood elevation, the flood-zone rules.
Yes. Laminated glass holds together when struck, which is what makes it the base of forced-entry-resistant glazing; thicker laminated make-ups and reinforced frames raise the resistance further. Where a project has an engineer's specification, we quote the make-up it calls for.
It depends on the window type, size, number of openings and frame material: a uPVC double-hung costs much less than a large aluminum tilt-and-turn or an impact-rated oceanfront unit. We quote per opening from a survey, and the quote is free.
Yes. Long Island permits go through the town or village building department, not the NYC DOB, and the coastal villages add wind-borne-debris and flood-zone requirements. We prepare the filing with the shop drawings.
Yes, on our own trucks. Delivery is included on orders over $2,500 and quoted below that, to a job site or a house anywhere in Nassau and western Suffolk.
Usually one day per floor for a house, and whole buildings run floor by floor with residents in place. Each old window is removed and the new one installed, sealed and trimmed the same day.
