Replacement windows for houses, two-families and storefronts from St. George to Tottenville, by a company based on the island at 7 Beach Street. Surveyed, made to your sizes and installed by our own crew, usually one floor per day.
In short: Alex Glass Construction replaces windows on Staten Island. We are based at 7 Beach Street in St. George, we measure every opening ourselves, the windows are made to those sizes, and our own crew installs them, usually one floor per day. Aluminum, uPVC, Pella, Andersen and Crystal windows, with low-E insulated glass. Call 929-235-1233 or request a free quote.
Staten Island is a borough of houses. Most of the window work here is single- and two-family homes from the North Shore to Tottenville, replacing the aluminum and vinyl windows put in during the last thirty years: sashes that no longer stay up, insulated units that have fogged, frames that leak air at the corners. The second kind of job is the storefront — Hylan Boulevard, Forest Avenue, Bay Street, Main Street in Tottenville — where the glass or the whole front is replaced. Co-ops and condos on the North Shore are the third, with a board standard to match.
Because we are on the island, a Staten Island job gets the fastest response we can give anywhere: the survey is a short drive, there is no alternate-side parking and no scaffold logistics, and the crew that measured the house is the crew that installs it. Our showroom at 7 Beach Street, near the ferry terminal, is open by appointment only — weekdays 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday and Sunday by appointment subject to availability — with window samples, glass and hardware on hand.
All of Staten Island. By shore:
North Shore: St. George, Tompkinsville, Stapleton, Clifton, Rosebank, New Brighton, West Brighton, Port Richmond, Mariners Harbor, Westerleigh, Castleton Corners, Silver Lake, Grymes Hill.
Mid-Island and East Shore: Todt Hill, Emerson Hill, Dongan Hills, Grant City, New Dorp, Midland Beach, Oakwood, Bulls Head, Willowbrook, Travis, New Springville, Richmondtown.
South Shore: Great Kills, Eltingville, Annadale, Huguenot, Prince's Bay, Pleasant Plains, Richmond Valley, Tottenville, Rossville, Woodrow, Arden Heights, Charleston.
Houses near the water in Midland Beach, Great Kills, Prince's Bay and Tottenville get a stronger frame and laminated glass as standard in our quotes, because wind and salt air are harder on a window there than on a hillside in Todt Hill or Westerleigh.
Not sure which? Our guide to casement, double-hung and tilt-and-turn windows and the comparison of aluminum, uPVC and wood cover the choice.
The window replacement page explains the installation itself in more detail, and waterproofing covers what we do when a sill or opening needs more than a new window.
217 Main Street, Tottenville — black Kleidco storefront and windows, with a vestibule storefront, lock modification and 7-foot ladder pulls added later. More Staten Island projects are added to the portfolio as they finish.

It depends on the window type, the size and number of openings, and the frame material: a uPVC double-hung costs much less than a large aluminum tilt-and-turn. We quote each opening from a survey, not from a price list, and the quote is free.
Usually one day per floor for a typical Staten Island house, and most houses are finished in one or two days. Each old window is removed and the new one installed, sealed and trimmed the same day, so the house is never left open overnight.
For most houses, uPVC or aluminum double-hung and casement windows with low-E insulated glass. Near the water and on the South Shore we recommend laminated glass and a stronger frame for wind. We also install Pella, Andersen and Crystal windows where the house calls for them.
Replacing windows in the same openings on a one- or two-family house usually does not need a permit. Changing the size of an opening, or work on a landmarked house, does. We tell you before we quote and handle the filing when it is needed.
Yes. We replace single windows, broken glass and failed insulated units as well as whole houses. For one window we often replace the glass only, which is faster and cheaper than a new frame.
Yes. We work to the building's window standard and the alteration agreement, provide the insurance and the drawings the board asks for, and schedule around the building's rules.
