Alex Glass Construction is an authorized distributor for several window and door manufacturers in China. Builders, developers and owners in the NY metro buy at factory pricing and get a local company that surveys, draws, delivers, installs and stands behind the package.
In short: We order thermally broken aluminum windows, doors, curtain wall and glass railings directly from several factories in China for builders and developers in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey. There is no importer or dealer between the factory and your job. We survey the openings, prepare the shop drawings and submittals, supply the energy and test data for the filing, clear and deliver the containers, install with our own crews if you want us to, and answer the warranty from our shop at 7 Beach Street, Staten Island. Most windows sold in New York pass through a factory, an importer, a regional distributor and a dealer before they reach the opening. Each adds a margin; none adds a window. Alex Glass Construction buys from the manufacturer. We are an authorized distributor for several factories in China that extrude, thermally break, finish and glaze aluminum systems, and we order each project to its own drawings. The quote you receive is the factory price plus our drawings, logistics and, if you choose, installation.
We work with more than one factory on purpose. One is strongest on large sliding and lift-and-slide doors, another on curtain wall and window wall, another on casement and tilt-and-turn windows and glass railing systems. We match the factory to the package rather than forcing every project through one catalog. We do not publish the factory names; the specification on your quote names the profile depth, thermal break, glass make-up, hardware and finish, which is what the architect and the filing need.

Where a European system (Reynaers, Cortizo, Alutech, Kleidco) or an American brand (Pella, Andersen, Marvin, Crystal) is the right answer for a project or a landmark district, we say so and quote it alongside. Builders usually mix: factory-direct on the typical openings, a named system where the architect or the board requires it.
Buying direct from a factory abroad saves money only if someone local does the work a dealer used to do. That is what we are for. On every factory-direct order we:
The full argument, with a comparison of buying direct, buying from an importer and buying through a local representative, is on why buy imported windows through a local representative.

Plan on roughly eight to twelve weeks of production after the shop drawings are approved, then four to six weeks for ocean freight, customs and delivery to our yard. A typical multi-family window package is therefore ordered three to four months before it is needed on site. A 40-foot container holds a package of roughly 80 to 150 windows and doors depending on size, so most mid-rise projects ship as one or two containers and large projects in phases by elevation. Our guide to when to order windows for new construction explains how to fit this into the construction schedule, and we ship nationwide covers container orders for builders outside our installation area.
We deliver and install factory-direct packages across New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island), on Long Island, and in Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark, Bergen, Hudson, Essex and Monmouth counties in New Jersey, and in Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley. More projects are added to the portfolio as they finish.
Yes. Alex Glass Construction is an authorized distributor for several window, door and curtain wall manufacturers in China and orders directly from the factory, with no importer or dealer in between. We do not publish the factory names; the profile, thermal break, glass and hardware are specified in writing on every quote.
The factories we represent extrude and thermally break their own profiles, use European-style hardware and insulated low-E glass, and test their systems for air, water and structural performance. Quality depends on the specification and on who checks the order, which is why we draw every opening, approve a sample where a project warrants it, and inspect the crates at our yard before delivery. Where we think a European or American system is the better answer for a project, we say so.
It varies by configuration, glass and finish, but removing the importer and dealer margins typically brings a thermally broken aluminum package in well below a comparable European branded system and in the range of good domestic aluminum or vinyl. Send your window schedule and we will quote it line by line so you can compare like for like.
Roughly eight to twelve weeks of production after the shop drawings are approved, plus four to six weeks for ocean freight, customs and delivery. Order three to four months before the openings need to be closed.
We do. The quote is delivered to your job site, with freight, duties and customs brokerage included, so there is no surprise at the port.
Yes. We supply the system test data (air, water, structural), the U-factor and SHGC for the energy code, and shop drawings in the format the architect and the DOB expect. The architect of record files; we support the submittal.
The factories supply thermal performance data for their systems and, where a project requires NFRC-certified ratings, we quote the series and glass make-up for which certification is available. Tell us at the quote stage if the energy filing requires NFRC labels and we will specify accordingly.
We inspect every crate at our yard before delivery. A damaged or incorrect unit is replaced by us; we re-measure, re-order and, where the schedule cannot wait, fabricate a temporary closure. You deal with our office in Staten Island, not with a factory abroad.
Alex Glass Construction does. The factory warranty on profiles, finish and glass is passed to you, and the service that goes with it (adjustment, hardware, replacement glass) is handled by our crews from our shop.
Both. Supply only to your site, supply with a site start for your crew, or full installation by our own crews, flashed and sealed. Outside New York, Long Island and New Jersey we ship by container for your crews to install.
Yes, and many builders do: factory-direct on the typical openings and a named European or American system where the architect, a landmark district or a co-op board requires it. We fabricate and install both.
Yes. Stick-built and unitized curtain wall, window wall, and frameless or post-and-glass railing systems are ordered from the factories that specialize in each, engineered to the loads your engineer sets, and installed by our crews.
