The two names most often on a European-trained architect’s drawings. Closer to each other than to anything American; here is where they part.
Where we stand. We install Cortizo from the manufacturer’s fabricator and have built it across New York. We do not fabricate or stock Aluprof; it appears on architects’ drawings often enough that clients ask us to compare, and we can install it from a US fabricator when a project specifies it. Series names, depths and positioning below are from the manufacturers’ published system data; performance numbers for a specific series and glass come from the manufacturer’s test reports, which we file in the test reports in our Technical Library as we receive them, and from the project’s own calculation. We do not quote a U-factor or an STC here that we cannot point to a report for.
These are the two system houses most often on a European-trained architect’s drawings, and they are closer to each other than either is to an American storefront system. Both make a full family — window, lift-slide, curtain wall, door — in thermally broken aluminum at similar depths and similar performance. Aluprof’s strength is its curtain-wall range and its passive-house series (MB-104); Cortizo’s is breadth and the slim large-format slider (COR Vision). If the drawings say Aluprof and the job is a facade, it is a reasonable specification; if the drawings say Cortizo, we know the system and its fabricators here. Neither is a mistake.

Multi-chamber profiles, polyamide breaks, EPDM gaskets, glazing to around 50 millimetres, powder-coat in any RAL, and a tilt-and-turn window as the core product. Both publish US test data on their main series. Both are fabricated in the US by independent fabricators to the system house’s specification, so on a New York job the fabricator’s quality matters as much as the extruder’s.
Curtain wall. Aluprof’s MB-SR50N family is one of the deepest curtain-wall ranges in Europe, with structural, semi-structural and unitised versions; on a high-rise facade it is often the specified system. Cortizo’s TP 52 is competent and we have built it, but the range is narrower. Passive house. MB-104 Passive carries Passivhaus Institute certification; Cortizo reaches similar numbers on COR 80 with the right glass but without the certificate. Where a project is chasing the certificate, Aluprof has the paperwork. Sliders. COR Vision is slimmer than MB-Slimline at large sizes; on a custom house with a fourteen-foot opening, Cortizo. Availability here. Cortizo has more US fabricators and more built work in New York; Aluprof is growing. On lead time and parts, Cortizo has the edge in our market today.
Facade or curtain wall with an Aluprof specification: build it as specified; it is a good system and we can install it. Windows and sliders, or a custom house: Cortizo, for the fabricator network and the slider range. For a program we will service for years, we usually steer to Alutech, which we fabricate ourselves.
