Stick-built, unitized and structurally glazed curtain wall, window wall and ground-floor glass walls in Manhattan, engineered to the design pressure, fabricated at our Staten Island shop or supplied factory-direct, and installed by Alex Glass Construction crews with the DOB submittals prepared.
In short: Alex Glass Construction engineers, fabricates and installs curtain wall in Manhattan: stick-built and structurally glazed systems from Reynaers, Cortizo, Alutech and Everest, factory-direct curtain wall from several manufacturers we represent, and window wall on new buildings; ground-floor curtain wall and lobbies on existing buildings; and recladding of failed 1970s and 1980s walls on the same slab edges. We prepare the shop drawings, anchors and performance submittals the architect and the DOB expect, and our own crews set the wall. Call 929-235-1233 or request a free quote.
Manhattan curtain wall work is ground floors, corners and whole facades on mid-rise buildings rather than towers: the new ground-floor curtain wall and entrances at 300 East 50th Street in Turtle Bay, the complete Everest facade package with a corner curtain wall at 2535 Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem, the curtain wall and sunroom at the Civilian Hotel on West 48th Street, and the double-height window wall at the Embassy of Tunisia. Each was drawn, engineered to the design pressure, fabricated at our Staten Island shop and set by our crews with the submittals filed through the architect.
For larger facades we supply factory-direct unitized and stick curtain wall from several manufacturers we represent, with the engineering, delivery, installation and warranty handled here. The system comparison is on curtain wall systems; Long Island City and Williamsburg, where most of the new high-rise work is, have their own pages.
Uptown: Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Harlem.
Midtown and downtown: Midtown, Chelsea, Gramercy, Greenwich Village, West Village, East Village, SoHo, Tribeca, Hudson Square, Financial District, Battery Park City, Lower East Side, Washington Heights.
The architect of record files through the Department of Buildings; we supply the shop drawings with anchors and connections, the system test data (ASTM E283 air, E331 water, E330 structural), the U-factor and SHGC for the energy code and Local Law 97, and bird-friendly glass documentation under Local Law 15 where the facade requires it. Engineering and shop drawings take three to five weeks after the design is frozen; European and Asian systems twelve to sixteen weeks to deliver; installation several weeks by elevation, with sidewalk sheds, hoists or cranes arranged by us.

More projects are added to the portfolio as they finish.

A storefront is a one-story system set on the slab; a curtain wall hangs from the slab edges and spans several stories with its own drainage and anchors. Stretching storefront to two or three stories is a common cause of leaks.
Air, water and structural test results (ASTM E283, E331, E330), the U-factor and SHGC for the energy code, and shop drawings showing the anchors and connections, all of which we supply with the submittal.
Three to five weeks of engineering and shop drawings, twelve to sixteen weeks for extruded systems from Europe or Asia, faster for standard North American profiles, then several weeks of installation depending on access and crane time.
Yes, as a reclad on the same slab edges after a survey of the anchors and the structure with the engineer.
Yes: ground-floor curtain wall and lobbies on occupied buildings (300 East 50th Street), and recladding of failed curtain walls on the same slab edges after a survey with the engineer.
Yes, factory-direct stick or unitized curtain wall from manufacturers we represent, engineered, delivered and installed by us, alongside the European systems we fabricate.
