In short: Alex Glass Construction is a window supplier and aluminum window fabricator for Newark and Essex County. We make thermally broken aluminum windows and doors at our own shop, supply uPVC and vinyl lines, order factory-direct packages from several manufacturers in China with local drawings and warranty, prepare the shop drawings from your plans, and deliver to the job site on our trucks, with installation by our crews if you want it. 66 McWhorter Street in the Ironbound and the Newark Public Library are our work. A window supplier that is also the fabricator and the installer

Newark is building again: the Ironbound, the Broad Street corridor, University Heights and the Oranges are full of new mid-rise rentals, and every one of them needs a window package that meets the energy code at a price the pro forma allows. Builders who search for a window supplier in Newark usually want one of three things: uPVC at the lowest cost per opening, slim European-style aluminum the vinyl distributors do not carry, or a factory-direct package with someone local responsible for it. We supply all three from the same drawings.

66 McWhorter Street in the Ironbound is a new building with a Gamco aluminum storefront, Solarban 60 glass and uPVC windows and doors; the Newark Public Library has our automatic narrow-stile swing doors and glass office partitions. How windows are really sold explains why one company as supplier, fabricator and installer is cheaper than a chain.

What we supply

How a supply order works

  1. Plans or a window schedule. Send the architect’s set or a list of openings with rough sizes. We do the take-off and quote per opening with the system, glass and hardware named.
  2. Shop drawings. Every opening drawn for approval before fabrication; see design, planning and drawings.
  3. Fabrication or factory order. Aluminum made at our shop; uPVC, vinyl and American lines ordered to the approved drawings; factory-direct packages ordered by the container. Lead times run three to twelve weeks by line and three to four months for container orders; when to order explains how to plan around the schedule.
  4. Delivery. On our trucks with a liftgate, to the floor or the yard you tell us, crated and labeled by opening.
  5. Installation — by our crews, or by yours with our shop drawings and a site start.

Questions People Ask

Who supplies windows in Newark NJ?

Alex Glass Construction does. We fabricate thermally broken aluminum windows and doors at our own shop, supply uPVC and vinyl, order factory-direct packages, and deliver to job sites in Newark, the Ironbound, the Oranges, Elizabeth and Union County, supply only or installed. Call 929-235-1233 or send the window schedule for a quote.

Are you a window manufacturer or a dealer?

Both. Aluminum windows, doors, storefronts and curtain wall are fabricated at our shop from Reynaers, Alutech, Alumil and Everest profiles, or ordered factory-direct from several manufacturers in China that we represent. uPVC, vinyl, Crystal, Pella, Andersen and Marvin windows we supply as a dealer or installer.

Do you deliver windows to job sites in Newark?

Yes, on our own trucks with a liftgate, crated and labeled by opening.

Can you supply windows only, without installation?

Yes. For general contractors we supply to the window schedule: take-off, shop drawings, fabrication or factory order, and delivery, with installation by your crew or ours.

Do you do shop drawings?

Yes. Every opening is drawn for approval before anything is made, from the architect’s set or our survey.

How long is the lead time?

Three to twelve weeks by line: uPVC and vinyl are the fastest, fabricated aluminum in the middle, imported European systems the longest; factory-direct container orders take three to four months from approved drawings. Order from approved shop drawings, not from the rough opening.

Can you supply factory-direct windows from China?

Yes. We are an authorized distributor for several window and door manufacturers in China. The package is surveyed, drawn, cleared, delivered and warrantied by us locally, which is the difference between importing and buying through a representative.

How much do windows cost for a new building in Newark?

It depends on the line, the number and size of openings, the glass and the color. uPVC is the lowest cost per opening, factory-direct aluminum next, fabricated European aluminum the highest. We quote per opening from the plans, and the quote is free.
