Glass Contractor for Builders and Developers in Queens

One glazing subcontractor for the whole building: windows, storefront, curtain wall, entrance doors, glass railings and panels on new construction across Queens, from Long Island City high-rises to Rockaway beachfront, with shop drawings, fabrication at our shop and installation by our own crews.

← Queens

In short: Alex Glass Construction is a glazing contractor for builders and developers in Queens. We take the window and glass scope of a new building as one package: take-off from the architect’s set, shop drawings, fabrication of the aluminum at our Staten Island shop or factory-direct supply from several manufacturers we represent, and installation by our own crews, from the ground-floor storefront to the roof railings. The Anable in Long Island City, 5-13 47th Road in Hunters Point and the oceanfront building at 130 Beach 120th Street are that package. Call 929-235-1233 or request a free quote.

What a builder in Queens gets from one glazing contractor

On a new building in Queens the glass scope is usually split between a window dealer, a storefront company, a railing installer and a panel sub, each with its own drawings, lead time and excuses. We take the whole scope: windows, storefront, curtain wall, entrances, glass railings and panels, drawn as one set and installed by one crew.

The Anable at 10-64 Jackson Avenue is that package: a complete Cortizo envelope with curtain wall, sliding doors, tilt-turn inserts and a curved corner on a Hunters Point building. Curtain wall and windows in Long Island City covers the LIC high-rise market; what a glazing contractor does on new construction explains the role.

Where we build

All of Queens. The LIC and Astoria waterfront is curtain wall and window wall on tall buildings; Flushing, Jamaica and the Queens Boulevard corridor are mid-rise mixed-use with storefront at grade; the Rockaways are coastal, where the design pressure and the salt air decide the system and the finish.

Western Queens: Long Island City, Hunters Point, Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Maspeth, Ridgewood, Glendale.

Central and Eastern Queens: Flushing, College Point, Whitestone, Bayside, Fresh Meadows, Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Briarwood, Jamaica, Jamaica Estates, Hollis, Queens Village.

Southern Queens and the Rockaways: Richmond Hill, Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Howard Beach, South Jamaica, Springfield Gardens, Rosedale, Far Rockaway, Rockaway Park, Belle Harbor, Arverne.

Scope we take on a new building

How we work under a general contractor

  1. Bid from the set. Send the drawings and the window schedule; we do the take-off and price the scope per opening with the systems named, with budget and premium options where they exist.
  2. Shop drawings and submittals. Every opening drawn, with the energy and performance data, for the architect’s approval; see design, planning and drawings.
  3. Field verification. Openings measured after framing or masonry, before fabrication.
  4. Fabrication and delivery. Aluminum at our Staten Island shop; factory-direct and branded lines ordered to the approved drawings; delivered to the floor, labeled by opening. See when to order windows for new construction.
  5. Installation. Floor by floor by our own crews, flashed and sealed to the air barrier, with the storefront and railings in sequence with the facade.
  6. Closeout. Protective film off, glazing cleaned, punch list, and the shop drawings as the record for the building.

Questions People Ask

Who is a good glass contractor for builders in Queens?

Alex Glass Construction takes the window and glass scope of new buildings in Queens as one package: windows, storefront, curtain wall, entrances, glass railings and panels, from shop drawings to installation by our own crews. Call 929-235-1233 or send the drawings for a bid.

Do you work as a subcontractor under a general contractor in Queens?

Yes. Most of our new-construction work is under a GC or directly for the developer: we bid from the set, submit shop drawings, fabricate, deliver and install, and coordinate with the framer, mason and facade trades.

Do you provide shop drawings and submittals?

Yes. Every opening is drawn, with the system sections, glass make-up and the energy and performance data the architect and the filing need, and nothing is fabricated until the drawings are approved.

Can you supply windows only and let our crew install?

Yes. Supply to the window schedule with shop drawings, delivery to the floor and a site start for your crew.

Can you supply factory-direct windows from China for our building?

Yes. We are an authorized distributor for several manufacturers in China and order windows, doors, curtain wall and railings directly, with survey, shop drawings, submittals, customs, delivery, installation and warranty handled by us locally. Where a named European or American system is the right answer, we quote it alongside.

How far ahead should we order windows for a new building?

Order from approved shop drawings as soon as the openings are framed or the masonry is set: three to twelve weeks for stocked and fabricated lines, three to four months for factory-direct container orders and imported European systems.

Do you handle glass railings and storefront as well as windows?

Yes, and that is the point: one contractor, one set of drawings and one crew for the windows, the ground-floor storefront, the entrance and the balcony and roof railings.

Do you do curtain wall on taller buildings in Long Island City?

Yes. The Anable at 10-64 Jackson Avenue is a complete Cortizo curtain wall and window envelope; we fabricate and install stick-built and unitized systems and prepare the engineering submittals the DOB expects.

What about coastal buildings in the Rockaways?

Windows and doors on the Rockaway peninsula are specified to the wind pressure and the salt exposure: thermally broken aluminum with marine-grade finish, laminated or impact glass where required, and stainless hardware. 130 Beach 120th Street in Rockaway Park is an example.
